Expands with a crescent wrench to unlock or install:
- Bathtub drains
- 1-1/4" or 1-1/2"
- Duplex Strainers
- Closet Spuds
- Jr. Basket Strainers
- Jr. Duo Strainers
- Tray Plug Drains
Directions for use:
- If possible, apply a penetrating oil around threaded drain or nipple which is being removed
- Place the Drain Key inside drain or nipple
- Hold hex nut with your hand and begin turning the thread drive screw counterclockwise
- When drive screw can no longer be turned by hand, place a crescent wrench on hex nut and a crescent wrench on threaded drive screw
- Continue to turn threaded drive screw counterclockwise with a crescent wrench until the drain breaks free
- Once drain is removed with a wrench, turn hex nut counterclockwise, which will in turn release the Drain Key. A wrench on the threaded drive screw may be required to help release key.
To install a drain or pipe nipple:
- Place the Drain Key inside the drain or nipple
- By hand, turn hex nut clockwise which will expand the Drain Key and will engage the drain or nipple
- Continue to turn hex nut until a wrench is required in which to tichten the drain or nipple
- After the drain or nipple is tight, hold hex nut with wrench and turn threaded drive screw clockwise, releasing the Drain Key
